Even in this early translation, signs of Nintendo's infamous censorship appear. This icon was changed from a potentially religious hexagram in the Japanese version (left) to a meaningless triangle (right).

Explains Ted Woolsey: "This was brutal. We couldn't even have jokes in there (or character names taken from popular movies, for example) for fear there would be backlash, legal issues or that users would scream over the adult nature of the content. The list of prohibited items was lengthy, and didn't lend itself to a literal translation of the scatological references that were peppered throughout the original screen text."
